Recycling is the process of collecting used materials and waste that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and
turning them into new, useful materials or objects.
When we recycle, we can make new things from old things. This saves the need to extract new materials from the Earth, which helps to protect our natural resources.
Recycling paper saves trees, recycling plastic saves oil, and recycling metal saves ore.
Imagine you have a broken toy or bicycle. You could throw it away and get a new one, or you could take it apart and use the pieces to make a new object. Recycling is like taking apart the broken toy or bicycle and using the pieces to make a new one.
Recycling waste into new products reduces the amount of materials needed to make new products.
This helps to conserve natural resources, reduce pollution, and save energy.
Waste is usually divided into different categories to be sorted out for the recycling phase:

Due to consumer trends and the increasing global population, this is expected to increase to almost three and one-half billion by the year 2050. One of the best ways to help the environment is the 3 Rs. What are the 3 Rs? This is an acronym that stands for:

Why are the three R's numbered in order? There is a hierarchy of waste and environmental harm reduction. The most effective is to reduce, the second most effective is to reuse, and the third most effective is to recycle. These are all different methods that help reduce waste and reduce harmful environmental impact.

Reducing is the best way manage solid waste. The less you use, the less you waste, which also means creating less waste. Businesses, especially in manufacturing, need to explore how to use less packaging or integrate more eco-friendly materials into the products.
Ever since the Single Use Plastic (SUPs) ban in 2022, by the Indian government, businesses manufacturing plastic bags, plastic bottles, plates, cups, utensils, forks, straws, spoons, and other disposable items have switched to new products that’re less polluting. For example, plastic bags that take years to decompose are being replaced with canvas or cloth bags. Similarly, plastic cutlery is being replaced by eco-friendly alternatives such as reusable bamboo and banana leaf cutlery.
You should also buy durable goods for your business. Buy products that last longer will keep them out of landfills longer. One item you can consider are rechargeable batteries as these can be used over and over again to reduce the amount of waste.
Another easy way for your business to reduce its amount of waste is to use electronic mail (email) instead of traditional email. Try not to print unless necessary and when you do, consider using scrap paper.
Reuse
Reusing is finding a new purpose for outdated or undesirable goods that would otherwise be discarded. You may repurpose products in a variety of ways to help minimize your garbage footprint.
Sort through your closet
Perhaps your size has changed. Perhaps your preferences have evolved. Instead of tossing away clothes you no longer desire, give them to someone who will. If you have a box of toddler clothing and your "baby" is now in elementary school, donate the items to a friend who has a little child. You may also donate your clothes to a variety of charity organizations; they will find a good home for your items and you will receive a tax benefit.
Distribute your toys
Do you have a collection of old toys that you no longer require? Donate them to a local day care, preschool or family with children. You might also give them to a local charity. The more you share the less garbage you produce.
Find a new use for an old object
When it's time to get go of something, consider new uses for it. Glass jars, for example, can be used as storage in your craft room or store. Cut up old bath towels and use them as wash rags. Plastic pop bottles can be used as bird feeders. Make an old magazine woven basket or tray.
Hold a garage sale
You know the dining room set, workout equipment, knickknacks, blender and other items you no longer use around the house. Someone out there would be delighted to have them. A garage sale is an excellent method to declutter your home and repurpose any unwanted goods. You can also make some money. When the sale is over, box up everything that didn't sell and give what's left to a local charity — many will come to your house to pick it up

How long does things take to decompose?
How is paper recycled? Wasted paper goes through different steps in the process of recycling to come back to new paper that is clean in rolls and ready to be cut and sent back to the shops. Recycling paper is considered a simple process that starts with collecting the paper from the recycling bin and then this paper is taken to a recycling plant. Paper is not all treated in the same way, but before being recycled, the recycling plant it is sent to separates it into types and grades and it is then washed with soapy water to remove inks, plastic film, staples and glue. The paper in the next step is placed into a large holder where it is mixed with water to create "slurry" and to this slurry there are different materials added that eventually lead to different products being created, such as card boards, newspaper and office paper. Coming to the final part in this process is actually bringing something out of this slurry in order to send it out to the shops. The slurry is spread using very large rollers to transform it into large thin sheets before it is left to dry. The dried paper is then rolled and becomes ready to be dried and sent back to the shops. Recycling is important because it saves energy and it also opens work places for people which means that it helps in reducing unemployment.
